[Update]: It looks like everything is back to normal. But still, some users may experience intermittent disconnections from games and slow connections.

All right, let's see...

My mum took leave today and we went out to various places.

Firstly, we went to have our Haircut @ Raffles Place. Since last night, it has been raining so heavily and it's still raining now! What's interesting was the trip to Raffles Place.

So we took bus no. 2XX to Boon Lay Interchange, and guess what! The bus was leaking! Almost 4/5 of the seats are wet! I am not joking! It reflects badly of SBS Transit and they still dare to say that they provide world-class service. =.=

After that, we took the train. The trip from Boon Lay <=> Jurong East was slow but steady. But after Jurong East station, the train became super slow PLUS super unsteady! When the train departs from Jurong East, it started to stop. Then it move. Then it stop. Then it move. Then at one particular part, the train starts to slant to the left! o.0 Therefore, the trip from Jurong East <=> Clementi took about 9+/- mins or so. So the train continued in this go-stop motion till we finally reached Redhill station.

After Redhill station is the underground passageway...the train started to SPEED! vrrooooooom! Upon reaching the next station(Tiong Bahru), the train knocked onto something!!! No, it's not a person. It sounds like some drain cover (metal) thing. The passengers gave the blur look. o.0? So, the train stopped at the station. BUT, the train over-shot by a metre! And it moved backwards to align with the sliding doors outside. -.-"

All right, enough of rants and complains. Had a haircut after that. Took the train to Bugis to have our lunch and did some Post Xmas Shopping.

After Bugis, we went to VIVO City! My 1st time there leh! Too bad it's raining, can't admire the beautiful landscape of Sentosa Gateway and the Christmas Decorations. T.T The walkway is really BIG inside and the floors are shining *.*! LOL. Almost all the shops sells high-end stuffs and I saw many many ~~ang-mohs~~ foreigners. It's pretty well-linked to Harbourfront Centre, NEL, St John Power Station and Sentosa Express!

Walk walk walk and we are back home! How interesting!

Raining Woes~

Some Good To Know Statistics
18th - 20th Dec: The longest lasting rain in Singapore since 1978

It's good that Singapore doesn't suffers from serious floods unlike our neighbour, whose southern part is almost drowned. Lol!

2/3 Chalet: The second day

Yes, I went for the chalet yesterday! Luckily, it stopped raining after 34 hours but still, it drizzles in the afternoon.

Zhepeng called me in the morning asking whether I wanted to go. So I asked my parents after that, and they agreed. So I prepared and met him at JE MRT station.

The train was so crowded and we had to wait for a seat. After 1 hour, we finally reached Pasir Ris MRT station. Took the bus 354 or 345? to Downtown East. During the journey, Zhepeng called the others and realised that they were having fun at Escape Theme Park!! And we missed out the fun! -.-"

We went in the room and the room was so dark! Everyone was trying to sleep and they shooed us out! A couple was inside though, those who went for the chalet and 3/4 people should know who are they! LOL.

So we had no choice but to loiter around the place and after some time, we went back and started playing.

At around 2pm+, chong keng, tze hock, zhepeng, calvin, wei lei and I went for lunch. After lunch, the girls and some of the other boys joined us for cycling/skating. It was tiring though...haha

We went back and watched some lame TV programmes and went out to Pizza Hut for dinner! Too bad! The outlet only offers takeaway and delivery service. We had no choice but to order the Canadian Pizza.

We waited for about 1 hour and the delivery arrived. Each person paid S$2 for the dinner. Suddenly, the girls came back with KFC meals! Lol, there were fried chicken, popcorn chicken, chicken nuggets, whipped potato and free tiramisu chocolate! Everyone ate to their heart's content.

We watched Project Superstar and Bai Wan Bao. Finally, Zhepeng and I left at 10pm. On our way back home, we saw many people with big bags small bags, and I believe they went for Christmas shopping @ Orchard!

I really enjoyed myself on that day! But it's a pity we didn't have BBQ and I did not go to Escape Theme Park! Lol! Hope we will have another 2/3 chalet/outing next year!

I was planning to go for the 1st day outing but it has been raining throughout these past few days.

And it will continue to rain today...

3/5 BBQ @ Chang Horng's house!

Not many people turned out for the BBQ though...and there was so much food left!

Anyway, we met at Causeway Point at 3pm but in the end, many people were late, including me. *lalala* Lucky, I am not the latest.

So we walked to Chang Horng's/Desmond's condo (named ~~Rosewood~~ Casablanca). The swimming pool there is super big! Too bad, no one went to swim. Took the lift up to Chang Horng's apartment and we went to squeeze in his room (except Nicholas and Bryan whom stayed outside to watch golf -.-"). So we watched a couples of movies till we finally settled on a movie called The Seed of Chucky.

After watching for about 1/2 an hour or so, we went down to start BBQ-ing! The BBQ-ing process is quite slow because we ain't experts. haha. Most of them went to play squash, basketball and some-other-fun-games and me, nicholas, bryan, yuling stayed to continue BBQ-ing. (Nicholas became super crazy after that.)

At around 8pm+, we went back to Chang Horng's apartment(Nicholas and Bryan went home) and the 4 gamblers (ooops), started playing mahjong. Some of us went to his room to continue watching the movie. Lol. The show was dumb. After the movie have finished, some of them started playing poker cards (with $$$ involved of course). The rest of us either watch TV or play Xbox. And Yuling left at about 10+pm.

Tze Hock, Shixu, Bi Nuan, Jacquline and I left at about 10.30pm. Don't know what happen to them after we left. LOL.

Hmm...hope there will be another 3/5 BBQ coming soon....!

Class 2/3 chalet: 19-21 Dec

100% confirmed that I will not stay overnight even if I go.
Still not confirmed of whether I should go on the 1st day.
Will someone give me the details of the schedule? =)

Interesting Encounter

Before I start, I shall put a little disclaimer.

Disclaimer: I respect all religions. I am not trying to promote any religion either. And I am not trying to offend anyone.

Ok, let's start!
After the MR meeting, I took the train to the Boon Lay Bus Interchange.

Suddenly, 3 guys(strangers, teenagers) approach me. They asked me whether I was rushing to anywhere, being a typical Singaporean, I said yes. For don't know what reason, they continued.

They started introducing themselves and they seemed tense up. By the way, they are Chinese.
So, one guy told me that he was going to tell me a story. I was like (o.0?, -.-")

There was a notebook with the so-called "cartoon" inside. They were just representing Man and God. (Man refers to human). At that point of time, I still don't know what they want me to do.

Here's the "story" by the way. -

We all know that God created Man. God created Man because He wants us to love each other and be good. But one day, God and Man was separated. Between the Man and the God, it's Hell. Those who are good will eventually go to Heaven (the God side) and those who are not, will fall in between Man and God, the Hell. In order to reach the Heaven, Man must build a bridge across. But all Man tend to do some "bad" things or tell lies. That means, Man will never reach the God side. So, it is God who helped Man reach Heaven.

(If you don't understand this story, never mind, because I don't really understand either.)

After that, they gave me 3 options.
1. I strongly don't believe that God helped Man to reach Heaven.
2. Neutral.
3. I strongly believe that God helped Man to reach Heaven.

So, I chose option 2. And they asked me Why?

I said this kind of things we(human) don't know whether it's true or not because we have not experience it before.

One guy started to tell me his "experience". -

During his childhood, he was a gangster(can see, his hair is still dyed). He thinks that stealing, fighting were nothing wrong. He was a Buddisht at that time. Then one day, he decided to repent. But there was no one to help him. He didn't believe that God exists in this world. Suddenly, God appeared to him. God helped him to become a good person. And he said indeed, he became good and did not steal or even scold vulgarities anymore. From that time onwards, he believed that God can make a person become good.

So, they asked me again whether do I believe that God is the One for can help Man to go to Heaven. I was speechless.

Then they asked me which religion am I, so I said I am a free-thinker. (which is true)

After a moment, they ~~finally told me their main point~~ continued.

They told me that the Church they are in(which they never mention the name) will be organizing some sort of Christmas "party". There will be drama, talks, games etc etc. And they asked me whether I could go.

I was like (WT*?) ~~To maintain my innocent image~~ To be polite, I replied that I will consider first as I need to ______ (insert all sorts of excuses). And I expected them to say okay, bye bye.

But no! They asked for my handphone number so that they can contact me after I make my decision. And they say they will not harass me or make any prank calls. I did not want to give them at first, but after some thoughts (~~If I don't give them my number, my innocent image will be gone!! Nooo!~~ Why not? If they dare to do anything to me, I will call the POLICE!) So, I gave them my name and handphone number.

And they say they will contact me tomorrow. We shook hands (like some BIG business deals) and off I go.

What should I tell them tomorrow?

Star Awards 2006 红星大奖2006
My thoughts

Ok, seriously, this year's star awards was truly disappointing despite Mediacorp's effort in revamping the Star Awards.

Let's see how was it disappointing:

1. The venue is really too small!
2. The space was too narrow for the artistes to walk.
3. Fans were not allowed inside. Thus, causing the "coldness" during the awards.
4. The atmosphere wasn't right, many parts of the awards ceremony was too "cold".
5. The presenters weren't able to joke well/ bring up the atmosphere.
6. There wasn't any performances except for 1 during the opening.
7. In the Walk of Fame show, only a couple of HK actors were interviewed.
8. There were many technical errors (eg. The computer mixed up Elvin and Weilian's name when announcing the leading nominees for the Newcomer award, when artiste Qi Yu Wu was giving his thank-you speech, there is a funny background voice.)
9. There were TOO much commercial breaks! (1 award, 1 commercial break!)
10. The time management was really bad. (Under run, overrun)
11. Many artistes were making a fool out of themselves. (The Huang Yi Liang incident, Gurmit said K.N.S)
12. The hosts, presenters, artiste kept on repeating their words! (能入围，就是受到肯定。。肯定肯定肯定肯定)
13. The guests ran out of ideas! (Nine holes九孔 repeats the same performance in the 暴笑新人王.)
14. The guests list was terrible.
15. The hosts for Walk of Fame and Qing Gong Yan were not able to coordinate well.
16. Quite a number of undeserving winners. XD
17. The closing wasn't done properly.
18. etc.

Overall: 5/10.

Ok, more or less I have covered everything. I know it's not easy to do a LIVE show, but they have been doing it for more than 42 years...I am sure we have seen better Star Awards ceremony than this...

Anyway, hope they will improve in the coming years!

Did you watched the opening ceremony last night? I watched the encore telecast this morning. I missed the moment where the Singapore contingents marching in to the Khalifa Stadium. Anyway, it was indeed spectacular to see a Middle-East country being so advanced in their technology. They have much better stadiums than Singapore and their firework displays were simply great.

"CSS Open House @ WC"

^Special Edition 3, "Insight of the school building" is posted BELOW this post.

Ok, let's look at today's open house at the new site!
First time entering the new site, it was like WOW. It's huge I must say. But the floors are still not cleaned. No furnitures, only empty rooms. Although the multil-purpose hall isn't air-conditioned, it's still huge. Later, we will look at some of the photos.

The main point for this open house is to get the P6 pupils and parents to know more about the school. Mainly, propaganda. So, Nicholas and I were supposed to film the open house. Saw the councillors and OBS students guiding the parents. But I have self-guide myself, T.T

There's a block specially for CCA and the staffs, which is the one facing the reservoir. The rooms are big! But there are mostly for performing arts. We have 2 audio and visual rooms. One is mainly the auditorium, and the other is a smaller version of it.

There are much more toilets than before, but each the toilets are smaller than what we previously had. There about 2-3 cubicles in each toilets (for males, I don't know about females). Before I forget, the colours they used are SUPER UGLY! Very little blue, a lot of green and brown. Even our classrooms.

The parade square(yes it is a square) is large. That's what I call a real school. When in to the staffroom too, it's brighter than ever (duh)! Haven got a chance to visit the general office, the meeting room, the library, the department heads room.

And yeah, we have 2 basketball courts, one fitness corner and a large field. I don't think there's netball court. The highest floor is 4 (if I am not wrong). Most of the staircases can be seen by outside. Just a warning to girls, beware of tickos trying to look up the stairs. And the fire-safety measures were well-done.

The corridors are spacious too. The canteen to me is not very big but still bigger than our previous one. More water coolers are now available around the whole campus. The science labs seems much smaller maybe due to their weird design. Also I did not get a chance to visit the computer labs.

Some of the highlights for the new school:
- 50%+/- of the canteen vandors worked in the hotels before.
- New indoor sports hall to be built in December.
- Environment studies will be introduced to Sec Ones.

I managed to ~~grab~~ take one of the brouchures which are for the P6 pupils. The brouchure was designed by gerald ajam, syidah and assyaraf. This year, the school has devised a special SPARK curriculum to promote Holistic Education.

Student Leadership [Leaders of Tomorrow] - outstanding character, acknowldegement of abilities, skills enhancement.
Physical Development [Lifelong Physical Engagement] - mass participation, trim bodies, option to specialise.
Aesthetics Education [Arts Alive] - ambassador, attainment, appreciation.
Responsible Citizenship [Global Citizens] - personal mastery, environmental awareness, patriotism.
Knowledge Creation [Creative scholars] - innovative lessons, insightful programmes, integration of curriculum.

SPARK making Super Power Achievers with Real Knowledge.

I was brainwashed by the school after the 50 mins talk. And it seems that there are going to be many rich young masters/mistresses next year (which the school loves).

Mdm Soh (teaches Biology!) - Although she teaches soH-soH, but her presence made me feel un-stressed and she can be very friendly sometimes. She needs to gain more experiences in handling teenages like us, not kids.

Mrs Yeo SM (teaches Chemistry!) - I must say that she is really really a caring teacher. I can see that she's really trying very hard to get the class on the right tracks. But often, her efforts are down the drain. Sometimes, she really need to be strict.

Miss Shyam (teaches E & A Maths!) - A very Kool teacher. Her way of handling the class and teaching methods are superb but sometimes it can be quite stressful for us during her lessons. She needs to smile more often, but it will spoil her Kool image...

Mr Methias (teaches English and CME!) - He's a very open-minded teacher which I believe he learned it from overseas. He never fails to cheer the class up and could really balance serious work and serious play. Maybe he just needs to come to class more often.

Mdm Ros (teaches Geography!) - No one dares to provoke her as she can be very fierce at times. She can really joke with us to make her lessons more interesting. I think she's the best geography teacher in CSS. But still, her lessons still have room for improvement.

Mrs Png (teaches Combined Humanities (SS+Hist)!) - Yep, a very cheerful and bubbly teacher. She tries very hard to make her lessons more lively. Sometimes her jokes needed time to be understood and she's really a busy person. Maybe she could come in to class more often and improve on her jokes.

Mr Ong (teaches Chinese!) - Erm...what should I say about him...Maybe he should go for re-training. His method of teaching is a bit outdated. But still, his lessons are very relaxing.

Mr Vilau (teaches PE!) - I can see he wants the best out of his students. But he really craps a lot. And he's a bit crazy [asking me to buy a McDonalds' meal for him!]...

Mrs Yeo PC (replacing Mr Ong!) - What she does sometimes were very surprising. She's keen to drill us and prepare us for the O Levels next year. And she's a very strict teacher too.

Some other temporary teachers...

Mrs Ng (teaches Biology during the 3 weeks of condensed time-table!) - A very experienced teacher indeed. She doesn't really joke with us and thus she can be quite boring. She needs to adapt more quickly.

Ms Lim (teaches English for the 1st term!) - I had never forgotten her! A super weird teacher which is full with strange ideas. Too much fun.

Ms Latimer (teaches English for the 2nd term!) - The best English teacher that I have ever seen. But she needed to have more contact with the students.

Mr Tan (relief teacher for English!) - Guess most of you have forgotten him. Needs much more experience.

Mr Shane Huang (relief teacher for English!) - A very funny looking teacher. Also needs much more experience.

Ms Chan (relief teacher for Geography!) - She looked very excited and anxious everytime she comes in. Again she needs experience.

Who did I not mention? Hmm...

Special Edition 1
"Memories of me in CSS"

Just a few days more, and we will kiss goodbye to Commonwealth Secondary School at Jurong East Site.

In conjunction with this very memorable event, I shall do a special series entitled "Goodbye Commonwealth @ JE"

For the first special edition, I will do a brief recap on my years in CSS.
Let's start from the day I received my PSLE results.

I felt quite depressed when I saw most of my friends got better results than I did. Most of them scored 250+ and their choices were The Chinese High, ACS Independent, Nan Hua High, Rivervale High, all the SAP schools. No one chose Commonwealth Secondary School as their first choice, only I did...

It wasn't a bad school I thought, at least autonomous.

So, on the first day of school, I stepped into class 1/3. The class was filled with total strangers, I didn't recognize anyone of them. Many had their ex-classmates with them, but not me. I needed to make new friends.

It took me quite a few months to get used to the totally new environment. Very soon, the year was over.

We were promoted to class 2/3. Seriously, I could really feel the warmth when I was in class 2/3. I got to know much more friends in the class. Although it was a streaming year, but still, we had lots of fun being together in class or outside. But the cruel fate separated us once again.

3/5, another exciting year for me. I chose the Bio/Chem class as my first choice. It turned out to be much better than I expected. We have been through many precious moments as a class. I saw how united our class was during the food and fun fair, and of course many others which is impossible to mention all. I still can't forget how the class bombard Mdm Soh during her lesson. I will always remember 3/5 as a bubbly and united class.

Trip to Gardenia!

I shall not post any photos of the Gardenia factory...Because it's HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL!

Thr trip is so lame! Gardenia kept on advertising their products...Let me recap what happened when we were at the factory...

First - There was a lady whom introduced us about all the products of Gardenia...
Second - We watched a video about how breads are made, after that, an advertisement...-.-"
Third - We went to view the factory and their jobs looked so simple...(sit there and watch the machines)..
Fourth - We went for refreshments and the breads provided were White Bread with cheese, Garlic Bread with tuna, and Rasin Bread. Mineral Water was provided too. Everyone was supposed to take 1 piece only. But Mdm Soh took 4 (and counting...)!!
Fifth - We were given a bag of souvenirs which consists of a chocolate bun, a guide book on how to make sandwiches and of course the plastic bag...-.-" And guess what again, Mdm Soh took 2 bags (Mrs Ng Tan only took 1)!!!
Sixth - We were given a worksheet and went back to school!

On the way there and back, we saw our NEW site!! It is still not fully completed yet, and now they are painting the building...our field seems big and overall, it still looked like any other schools...-.-"

On my way back home, people kept looking at the Gardenia Plastic Bag that I was carrying...

I guess those taking O Levels students may think, "Wahh...not bad ah! Take O Level in CSS can get FREEE goodies bags from Gardenia nia!!!"

And the public, "OMG! Gardenia giving away free breads today is it? Where ah? NTUC or Cold Storage? I better go home tell my family to go queue up!!!! Tonight can save some $$$ on dinner liao lor!!! Yey!!"

US President George W Bush to make official visit to Singapore

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Foreign Ministry said US President George W Bush is enroute to Vietnam for the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Leaders Meeting and Singapore is his first stop in the region.

For President Bush, it will be his second visit to Singapore.

The US President will call on Singapore's Acting President JY Pillay, and also hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and meet other Cabinet Ministers.

President Bush will deliver a major speech in Singapore and it is expected to touch on US policy in Asia and the future plans the US has to battle the war on terror.

President Bush is also expected to touch on the state of affairs in Iraq.

The Singapore Police have said that appropriate security measures will be put in place for President Bush's visit.

Certain roads and expressways will be closed to traffic during the movement of the US President's motorcade.

Although the road closure's duration would be kept to the minimum, Police emphasise that traffic delays can be expected and motorists are advised to plan for more time for their journeys.

For security reasons, details of the affected roads will be publicised over radio broadcasts only on the days of the visit.

The Police are appealing for motorists to drive carefully, comply with the directions of police officers.

The US President is also scheduled to visit Indonesia as part of his tour of this region. - CNA /dt

What is FESPIC Games ?

FESPIC Federation (formerly spelled out as Far East and South Pacific Games Federation for the disabled) is the sports organization for the persons with disability in Asia and South Pacific with the following objectives:

- to promote general interest and welfare for the disabled in the region through participation in sports events and other activities,
- to deepen mutual understanding and friendship of the disabled
- to promote rehabilitation for the disabled in the region through sports activities

The 1st Games were held in Oita, Japan in 1975 under the leadership of the late Dr. Nakamura, and the 8th Games were held in Busan, Korea in October 2002 with 2,199 participants from 40 countries and territories in the region.

Many eyeballs will be on the 2006 event, as it will be the last FESPIC Games ever. The games will no longer take on the name of ‘FESPIC’ in future. This is also the first time sailing is included as a competitive event.

The passage below is full of grammatical and vocabulary mistakes. But they will not cause much problems to understand the passage... Just in case you do not understand what the numbers meant, I have added the word beside them in brackets...

Ah Lek was asked to make a sentence using 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10. Not only did he do it 1 to 10, he did it again back to 1.

This was what he came up with...
1(One) day I go 2(to) climb up a 3(tree) outside a house to peep. But the couple saw me, so I panic and 4(fall) down. The man rush out and wanted to 5(fight) with me. I run so fast until I fall 6(sick) and throw up. So I go into 7(seven) eleven and grab some 8(eggs) to throw at him. Then I took a 9(knife) and try to stab him. 10(Thank) God he run away. So, I put the 9(knife) back and pay for the 8(eggs) and left 7(seven) eleven. Next day, I call my boss and say I am 6(sick). He said 5(fine) , tomorrow also no need to come back 4(for) work. He also asks me to climb a 3(tree) and jump down. I don't understand, I so nice 2(to) him but I don't know what he 1(wants).

Hehe, they are my 1st uncle children! wee weet! Don't what's their age...and by the way, the photo was taken in an amusement park in America. From the photo (the yellow trees), you can see that it is autumn. =)

Our new chinese teacher, (shall not mention her name), never fail to surprise us during her lessons. On Monday, it was our first lesson with her...and guess what's her welcome present? A SURPRISE test on 10 close passages (70 questions), and we are expected to finish it within half an hour...in the end I got a very bad grade...T.T After that, she gave us a composition to do...

Today, there was another SURPRISE test on oral! Everyone have to read some paragraphs from the sec 4 chinese textbook to the whole class. Again, I didn't fare well...Then, she gave us another composition to complete...

I think I need some time to adjust to her teaching methods to prevent heart attack! I guess the next test should be letter writing...X.X

Food, food, you are the root of all troubles!

I realised that almost 80% of my quarrels with my mum was on food.

Besides that, I have also found out that there have been increasing number of quarrels over the years. *The numbers are just to act as reference, it does not represent the actual amount!

Just like today, I quarreled with my mum about my lunch. I thought about it for a while came up with the following reasons why I always quarrel with my mum about food:

- I am too particular on the food I eat
- I have some problems with my attitude
- The food was just terrible
- I am in lousy mood
- I am in puberty stage
- I have nothing better to do other than quarrelling?
- or maybe I must have offended the God of Food in my past life? (jk only)

Sometimes I feel stupid quarrelling with my mum over such trival matters, but at times, you just cannot control yourselves. For some unknown reasons, I am very very picky on the food I eat, if I find them not satisfactory, I will either throw a tantrum and not eat them, or worse come to worst, I will start throwing them away. o.0

I really wish one day I will stop this undesirable habit. =)

Strange Fruits on Earth!

I went to the NTUC Supermarket that day with my mother, as usual, we were looking for fruits to buy. Suddenly, I spotted 2 kind of strange fruits which I have never seen in my life before! They are the BLOOD Oranges and GOLDEN Delicious Apples! My mum was disgusted when she saw the blood oranges, she said that, "where got people buy such oranges..."

The blood orange is a variety of orange (Citrus sinensis) with crimson, blood-colored flesh. The fruit ranges from small- to medium-sized; its skin can be pitted or smooth. We can actually book a holiday bungalow at St John's Island! But it will be quite inconvenient to travel around, because we are on a island...lol

Anyway, where's St John's Island? In Malaysia? No lah, Singapore...

Kusu Pilgrimage Season

The news yesterday mentioned about this.
But what exactly is it? I don't know either...So, let's check it out!

Kusu Pilgrimage Season is when thousands of devotees flock to Kusu Island to pay homage for good health, peace, happiness, good luck and prosperity.

What is Kusu Island?
Kusu Island, which means "Tortoise Island" in Chinese, is also known as Peak Island or Pulau Tembakul in Malay. From 2 tiny outcrops on a reef, the island was enlarged and transformed into an 8.5-hectare island holiday resort.

The story of Kusu Island...
Legend has it that a magical tortoise turned itself into an island to save 2 shipwrecked sailors - a Malay & a Chinese. Each year during the ninth lunar month (falls around Sep to Nov according to the Lunar Calendar), thousands of devotees flock here for their annual Kusu Pilgrimage to pay homage for good health, peace, happiness, good luck and prosperity.

On the island is the popular Chinese temple - Da Bo Gong (The Merchant God or God of Prosperity). Built in 1923 by a wealthy businessman, the temple houses 2 main deities - the Da Bo Gong and Guan Yin. The former is highly regarded as having the power to confer prosperity, cure diseases, calm the sea and avert danger, while Guan Yin is known as the 'giver of sons'.

Ontop the rugged hillock stand three Kramats (holy shrines of Malay Saints) to commemorate a pious man (Syed Abdul Rahman), his mother (Nenek Ghalib) & sister (Puteri Fatimah) who lived in the 19th century. Many devotees will climb the 152 steps leading to the Kramats to pray for wealth, good marriage, good health and harmony. The shrines are also popular with childless couples who would pray for children.

But it looks like more people support Genting International-Star Cruises proposal...lol..Anyway, who do you think will win?

EOY Examintions: Ended!

The last papers for today were Geography Paper 1 and CME.

For Geography Paper 1, I say it was a quite okay paper. The difficult part about it was probably the questions on the topo map reading. Other than that it should be quite easy.

CME Paper was supposed to start at 10am - 11am. For don't know what reason, the paper was delayed till 11am. We were dismissed for a break at 9.35am, leaving us nothing much to do. So I followed Zhepeng, Chang Horng, Chin Hou, Tze Hock, Shawn, Ming Xuan to McDonalds. After that, we went to the playground to play 'blind mice' till 10.20am.

So, at 11am, the paper started. At the first glance, I thought, "Holy smokes! The paper is like so difficult!" As I proceed on doing, it was quite easy as there isn't much question on the different types of religion/festivals. I was quite shocked with the essay questions, as I did not really know what to write. So, I gave some stupid examples. LOL.

Anyway, there's one particular question asking about who is the second president of Singapore. I don't remember studying it in the CME book before...So you know whom I chose?

EOY Examinations: 3/5 English Oral is over!
The longest post for the EOY Examinations series. Marks included*!

Finally, one of my most feared examination ever is OVER! A heavy load off my mind! =)
The English Oral was relatively easy, especially the passage. There isn't really any 'big' words used in the passage. The passage was about the power supply in a school being cut off and they resorted in playing board games in the room called G8? haha...

The picture was about many groups of girls playing a modified version of Monopoly. I said it was a girls' school becuase I did not see any boys! lol! Overall, it was considered quite ok...

The conversation was about the games of yesterday and today. I said the game today was mostly electronic, and I gave an example of snake and ladder for the games yesterday and another example for the game today was MapleStory(I had no other example as I don't play them). The second part of the conversation was discussing about energy used by the World. I kept stammering at this part as I didn't really know what examples to give. Guess what one of my examples were....I said energy from volcanoes (this suddenly came up from my mind).

Anyway, the oral was taken from last year's O'Levels. You know it when you see the footer. UCLES © 2005

My oral examiner was Mr Adrian Chia, he told me something about the CCA at the start and end...Hehe...he also told me a secret...shhh...(don't bother asking me)

Here comes the most exciting part!
I KNOW WHAT ARE THE ORAL MARKS!
Actually, not really lah, I only got a glance at the marks at the beginning of the exam.
*This list may not be 100% accurate. The marks I saw were starting from Desmond Chew to Marcus.
- The maximum possible marks for the oral is 40.
- I saw many people with 30 marks. Especially those who are just before me.
- I saw one person with 25 marks (the lowest mark at that time). The person is somewhere at the front.
- I also saw one person with either 31 or 32 marks (the highest at that time). The person is somewhere in the middle and among the 30 mark range.
- Most people also got 8-9 marks for reading and picture discussion.
That's all I remember....

Ok, anyway, tomorrow is Geography Paper 1, and CME. It will be the last papers for 3/5.

Why are Singapore schools so unclean these days?

If you have read the news these days, you should have noticed that there have been so many cases of norovirus infections, which causes gastric flu. It all started in Ang Mo Kio Secondary School, then in Stamford Primary School, Maris Stella and ACS (Independent).

The reason for so many cases of norovirus infections is because the virus is highly contagious. The virus can spread through air too! It seems so like SARS...

psst: Heard that Nicholas had gastric flu on Monday and therefore he did not come for Chemistry Exam!

Hope the virus won't spread in CSS!

EOY Examinations: E Maths Papers are over!

E Maths papers were the most difficult so far! The questions in paper 1 was still quite ok, with a certain level of difficulties. Paper 2 was a killer one, I had many questions undone or done halfway! Even A Maths was easier than E Maths! Looks like I have a slim chance to pass both of my Maths...=(

Finally, we are left with English Oral, Geography Paper 1 and CME...

Tomorrow is English Oral...! Lucky no need to study de...hehe...

Biology was quite ok again...but there's some challenging parts in the MCQ and Section C. I wonder how they wrote so much for Section C? Some people even wrote 4 pages for section C! o.0 Anyway, I only wrote two pages, somemore not complete pages!!!

Tomorrow is E Maths. Can't seem to memorize everything!

EOY Examinations: A Maths and Chemistry Papers are over!

Didn't manage to update about the A Maths Paper the last few days so I will do a quick update about the paper.

The A Maths paper was easier than expected. Although I still have a couple of questions left undone, but I think I should be able to pass.

The Chemistry paper was easy. The only difficult part should be the Section C. Others are quite straight-forward. I think I have flunked section C question 1 becuase I didn't really understand the QA. But overall, can pass...

Tomorrow is Biology. I must score in this paper!!!

Guess what? My English Oral Examiner is Mr Adrian Chia! He's my CCA Teacher-IC somemore...hehe...Hope I can score in oral to pull up my English scores.

Mid-Autumn Festival
中秋节

Yes, today is the mid-autumn festival. Still remember when I was young, I used to go to the park with my child-hood friends and play with candles and laterns. We will gather lots of tree sticks and papers from the mail-boxes and burn them. Haiz...now we have grown up, we seldom meet together anymore...=(

Anyway today reminds me of one song, the song which we had to memorize for a chinese test last year...-.-"

As of 4pm, the PSI Reading was 80. That was the highest reading for this year! Looks like today's full moon is not going to be full, round, and bright anymore!

The smell of 1997 is back!

Now(6.00pm), breathe in deep deep....
do you smell something?

yes it's the HAZE!

It seems that the haze has worsen and now I keep sneezing, my mum keeps complaining of the smell and she can't stand it anymore!

Anyway, as of 4pm today, the PSI Reading is 54 (Moderate).
But I think the PSI Reading should be much more than that....

Geography and Combined Humanities Papers are over! This two subjects requires the most memorizing ever! Now, it is over!

Geography paper was quite ok...except for some portions...

Combined Humanities...hmm...Social Studies was quite challenging, but History was quite ok...thanks people for the tips anyway!

Tomorrow is A Maths, PLEASE LET ME PASS A MATHS and other subjects!

Haze over Singapore worsens
PSI Reading as at 4pm - 73

SINGAPORE : The haze over Singapore has worsened.

The Pollutants Standards Index (PSI) - which measures the level of the air pollutants over a 24-hour period - as at 4pm on Monday was 73.

Though still in the moderate range, it is the highest level recorded so far this year.

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), the latest satellite picture showed there are 97 hotspots and dense smoke haze in Sumatra, mainly in Jambi and South Sumatra.

The smoke haze has also obscured the sunlight and lowered the temperature and visibility.

NEA says the current dry weather conditions in the southern parts of Sumatra are expected to persist until mid-October.

It will continue to monitor the haze situation in the region closely and will issue the relevant health advisories if the situation warrants it. - CNA/ms

The world is really small...
or rather Singapore is really small...

Today, I went to the ICA building with my mum to do my NRIC.

Ok first, we took 243G to the Boon Lay Temporary Interchange. On the way, I didn't realise Shawn (Phua) was at the back of the bus until he called me. I remember seeing him, Tze Hock, and Wei Lei in 187 on my way back home from school. Didn't really expect to see him again...haha..

Ok, next took the MRT to the ICA building. Started queueing up at the counter on the 3rd floor. This time round guess who I saw? Bing Cheng, Marcus, Kenneth, Michelle and I-forgot-who-it-was...they were also there to do their ICs!!! haha......

Finally, after doing my IC, we went home again...At Boon Lay MRT station...I saw someone again...they were Zheng Qun and one-guy-whom-I-don't-know-his name...LOL...

This prove that Singapore is really small!

EOY Examinations: Languages Papers are over!

Yesterday was the Chinese paper, today was the English paper. I must say that this time round, both papers are considered quite easy. I think I might be able to pass my English...=)

Third-time experience sitting for exam in a hall...
First time - PSLE
Second time - English Retest
Third time - Now...

Although they turned on the air-con and fans, but it is still very warm...especially for people sitting in the middle of the hall!

Anyway, the next paper is Geography. The paper is set by Mr G and Mdm Ros. Heard from 3/2 that it's going to be a difficult one...Jia you bah!

Singapore Idol crown goes to Hady Mirza

Hady Mirza has won this year's Singapore Idol contest.

26-year-old Hady and the other finalist, 23-year-old Jonathan Leong, took to the stage at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for the results show on Monday evening.

The two finalists had beaten hundreds of applicants and fellow contestants to arrive at the Grand Final on Sunday night, after months of training and competition.

Both belted out three songs each on Sunday night.

One of the songs is an original which the winner will record as his first single.

Each had their own camp of supporters.

Hady is known for his smooth R & B voice, while Jonathan wows the crowd with his rocker-like vocals.

Over the months, fans have been voting for their favourite singer via SMS.

Short Personal Update

Less than 2 days to the Chinese Paper! This time, I MUST PASS MY ENGLISH!!! So far, I have completed my English, Geography revisions and started my Combined Humanities, Chemistry revisions. Others I will most probably start this weekend. Jia you everyone!

Yey! It's the Month of Ramadhan again! I have waited for so long because I will get to enjoy great Malay food like Nasi Bryani, Pisang Goreng, and those traditional kuehs! Like the previous years, they set up stalls under a HDB block which is near my house. Here I go! Lol...

Anyway childrens' day is coming! =P

September 23: Equinoxes

Was revising my geography just now and realised that today is one of the day when the sun is overhead at the equator during the equinoxes! The other day is on March 21. The information can be found on Marianne Chong Guidebook pg 34. Although the sun is overhead at the equator, it doesn't seems hotter, in fact, it's quite cooling~
